Whadup helps people discover and share local plans, events, and social activities.

  1. Information you provide
    • Account details such as name, email, and optional photo or bio.
    • Posts, events, photos, and other content you share.
    • Messages and chat activity within the app.
    • Feedback or support messages you send us.
  2. Information collected automatically
    • Technical information such as device model, operating system, app version, and crash reports.
    • General usage data, such as which features are most used.
    • If you include an address or place in a post or event, that location becomes part of the shared content.
    • Whadup does not collect GPS or background location data from your device.

  • Operate the app and deliver its features.
  • Improve performance and develop new functionality.
  • Communicate important updates or respond to support requests.
  • Generate aggregated, non-personal insights (for example, activity trends) to understand community engagement or inform partners.

  • Posts, photos, and events are visible to users who can access that activity or group.
  • Stories are temporary and visible only to users connected to the related chat or event.
  • Messages and chats are private between participants, but may be accessed by Whadup administrators only when necessary for moderation, technical support, or legal compliance.
  • Aggregated and anonymized statistics may be shared with trusted partners to improve community experiences.

5. Third-Party Services

Whadup uses external services for hosting, analytics, and functionality.

Examples include Firebase (authentication, storage, analytics) and OpenAI API (automated event creation).

These providers process data on our behalf and comply with applicable privacy laws, including the GDPR.

We retain data as long as needed to operate the service and meet legal or operational requirements.

If you delete your account or contact privacy@whadup.be, we will remove or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable timeframe.
